A forest with a challenge
A forest with a challenge
We bought an area of a former tree nursery. This means very dense self-seeding and plantings "in a line". A large part of the trees is already dying (lack of light, competition for water and nutrients), and young individuals inhibit each other's growth. The first step is a wise thinning of the stand — so as to leave the healthiest, most promising specimens and restore light, circulation, and diversity to the forest.
- We remove diseased, displaced, and unpromising trees
- We improve light access; we leave some of the deadwood as dead wood for biodiversity
- We introduce an admixture of more resistant species
Area: 240,000 m2
